Quick-Step's newest proprietary technology has created a modern flooring category that offers one of the most positive combinations of style and value in exotic hardwood visuals in the flooring industry. Now available nationwide, "DecorWood by Quick-Step" is neither wood nor laminate, but the best characteristics of the two materials combined. DecorWood offers the natural beauty and finish of wood on luxurious, sustainable, ultra-long planks.
"Quick-Step is widely-known for our leadership in using innovative technology to achieve exceptional visuals, at a price attractive to the majority of a retailer's customers," said Roger Farabee, senior vice president of marketing, Unilin. "DecorWood is a fresh, modern flooring category offering consumers authentic, exotic wood visuals in 6-3/4 foot ultra-long planks, at an affordable price."
Available in five exotic species: Brazilian Walnut, Golden Eucalyptus, Claret Cherry, Crimson Jarrah and Garnet Tupelo, DecorWood planks use coordinating hardwood moldings to finish off the rich look of an ultra-long plank, exotic hardwood floor. DecorWood's 3/8" thick planks are 6-1/8" wide x 80-23/32" long. The product's superior photosensitivity rating means there will be virtually no color change, so planks retain the original brilliance of their design color and clarity.
"DecorWood will have a significant impact in the flooring industry," says Quick-Step designer partner and HGTV blogger Erinn Valencich. "DecorWood is unique; no other product on the market today gives designers and homeowners the look of an ultra-long plank, exotic hardwood floor, at an affordable price."
Quick-Step's proprietary use of "HiDef Color Fusion Technology" fuses color directly onto an eco-friendly substrate, composed primarily of pre-consumer recycled wood. Each plank is then finished with a semi-gloss urethane coating, like that found on real hardwood. HiDef Color Fusion Technology creates clarity, brilliance and depth of color to achieve the visual of a 6-3/4 foot ultra-long plank floor of exotic hardwood. Use of this technology also makes DecorWood's exotic hardwood visual available at an attractive price. Before DecorWood, it was financially challenging for consumers to find the luxury of an ultra-long, exotic plank at an affordable price.
The exotic wood visual of the installed DecorWood floor is further enhanced by the large number of unique planks, emulating the look of a real hardwood floor. DecorWood planks are stable in all climates and cannot delaminate the way engineered wood can. It also resists face-checking, when the floor's surface begins to split, that often occurs with some engineered hardwood floors. DecorWood planks are also more dent and impact resistant than most domestic exotic or tropical exotic hardwoods.
The new product features the patented Uniclic glueless installation locking system that provides easy installation and requires no glue, nails or staples. Planks simply click together for a lasting connection.
